Collective Artistes provides participatory education activities both alongside our national tours and with groups of young people in South East London. We are committed to working with young people facing disadvantage, particularly those who have been or are at risk of being excluded from school, those from immigrant backgrounds, young women and those not currently accessing youth arts provision.
CA employs Theatre for Development, a technique that uses dramatic methods to work on social issues and bring about sustainable social change. Our projects inspire, educate and empower young people in the local community, particularly in identifying and proposing solutions to problems affecting their lives.
The African nature of the work means that we employ largely African artistes, or those that have an in-depth knowledge of the performance styles of the African Diaspora. Significantly, these artists serve as key role models and help to promote a positive vision of BME communities to all involved.
