"superb production...a memorable evening"
Manchester Evening News
"strong, beautiful, and emotionally absorbing...the sheer energy of the show, the singing, the dancing, makes the production a joy"
The Scotsman
This adaptation by Biyi Bandele of Federico Garcia Lorca's 1934 play was transposed to a traditional Northern Nigerian community where failure to give birth robs a woman of her purpose for life and amplified the pain universal to childless women everywhere.
CA co-produced this production with Fifth Amandment and Theater Chipping Norton, touring it to several venues in the UK as well as part of the 2001 Edinburgh International Festival.
